eBay VLine & Wide Load Truck Decals – HO (1/87) – Water Decals These decals were originally developed to expand upon the decal provided with the RTR HO TAIT Carriages that are currently available. We include both the original Destinations from the 1960s(?) plus all those now in use as the network expanded over the past couple of decades. We also provide these in N-scale, for those that model Victorian Railways in that scale. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shipping: We have started shipping from multiple location (Australia & India). Our decal sets are normally developed in conjunction with actual hobbyists and peer-reviewed prior to release. The decals are printed on a high-quality, high-resolution (720 x 1440dpi) 8-ink commercial digital printer (**NOT ALPS**)(**NOT LASER**). There is no pixellation or dot-matrix effect. The decal film is resilient and easy-to-handle and position. Prior to 25/01/19 all waterslide decals we shipped were (a) printed on continuous carrier; and (b) then had the decal film pre-cut ~0.5mm outside each item of artwork. Based on ongoing client feedback and requests, as of 25/01/19 we have discontinued pre-cutting of stock decals sold via eBay. Existing stock of pre-cut decals will continue to be provided until those stocks are exhausted. If you would still like decals that are Pre-Cut: please ask us! Decal Instructions Custom Hobby Decals uses a 4th generation premium decal film that is very resilient and resistant to damage when handling. It is easy-to-handle, position and fix in place. Our previous media (generations 1 to 3) was very optimised for our pre-cut process. As such, whilst it was still a ’quick release film’, the decal media would not easily slip-off the backing media like ’traditional’ waterslide media. Our 4th Gen film retains all of the positive features of previous generations, but a revised adhesive allows Hobbyists to use either the process outlined below, or instead use it as per ’traditional’ media. (As of 25/01/19, waterslide decals will no longer be pre-cut and therefore only ’traditional’ or commonly-used methods for handling decals will apply) Particularly when dealing with small to very small decals, we normally recommend the following process: place section of media in water for a slow count of 5 (if left too long in the water, the decal film will likely separate from the backing sheet) remove from water and shake to remove any excess; use a pair of fine-nose tweezers, pick the edge of a decal – where we have pre-cut the decal film – to gently lift the decal from the backing media. with a little water on the receiving surface, position the decals as required. Add more water if further movement is required. (Some people prefer to use decals setting solution instead of water. Both techniques are normally quite reliable and it is therefore likely a matter of preference rather than ?best technique?.) once positioned, use the edge / corner of a tissue to wick away any excess water; apply decal setting solution and leave for 1 – 5 minutes. We generally recommend Gunze ’Mr Mark Setter’ and ’Mr Mark Softer’ (our personal choice). Tamiya ’Mark Fix’ and Microscale ’Micro Sol’ and ’Micro Set’ have also tested as quite effective. Not all waterslide decal media has the same composition and certain decal setting solutions are designed for other media. As such, they are quite ineffective with our waterslide media. You should therefore always test for compatibility if choosing to use another brand to those referenced above. allow the decal setting solution some time to react with the decal film; once a decal has been treated with decal setting solution, do -not- attempt to move or re-position it, as damage may result. again use the edge / corner of a tissue to wick away any excess solution; use a balled-up tissue to gently but firmly press the decal onto the surface to both remove air bubbles and to promote conformance to a non-flat surface; allow to dry, then apply a suitable clear-coat. Our decals have been successfully tested with most clear-coat solutions currently available. The specific exception to this is any solvent-based product, such as 2-pack automotive. Such products will damage or destroy our decals as they are printed using solvent-based inks. As mentioned, you will find our deals offer considerable resistance to damage but are _very_ conformable when correctly treated with decal setting solution. Pre-cut Decal Film Most decals purchased today have been printed on ”continuous carrier” decal media. This means that the decal film is one piece and covers the entire sheet of backing media. Our decals are first printed on continuous carrier decal media. Once the ink has cured, we then cut the decal film (not the backing media), at typically around 0.5mm ? 0.7mm outside of the decal artwork. This means that you can quickly and easily remove just the actual decal from the backing media without having to first closely trim it to size – a significant saving in time and effort … … and without the worry about perhaps damaging the decal artwork! Our cutting process is around 99% accurate – on the odd occasion the start and finish of the outline cut won’t quite overlap. If this occurs, just a small reasonable amount of care will produce still produce the expected results. Illustrative Image of Decal Sheet Images of our decal sheets in this listing (and other) incorporate a typically green or pink background to enable easy viewing of white and light-coloured artwork. This is not the colour of our actual waterslide decals which, unless specifically otherwise stated, are printed on clear decal film on a white or pale colour backing media. As appropriate to the product concerned, vinyl decals may be printed on clear 50 micron vinyl; white 70 micron vinyl; metallic gold vinyl; 100 micron ’reflective’ vinyl, etc. 4. CHD Overview It is the aim of Custom Hobby Decals to become the leading supplier of custom waterslide decals, both in Australia and worldwide. We specialize in low-volume printing (from as little as one ”Very Small” sheet of decals, being less than 10% of A4 area) for Hobbyists, Retailers, OEM manufacturers and commercial businesses. In addition to waterslide decals, we also print high-quality vinyl decals. And the occasional painting Stencil. It is our intent to add paper-based flags and banners by mid-2019. We also provide ”print-only” services for Clients with ready-to-print artwork* or we can prepare artwork to meet any specification (and then print it for you). Pricing for artwork preparation, by experienced graphic artists, is affordable and (generally) quickly available. Ready-to-print artwork is normally preferred in vector-graphic format (eg AI, CDR, EPS, vector-PDF, SVG, DXF/DWG); Artwork in raster-image file formats (eg JPG, BMP, PSD, non-vector-PDF, etc) can sometimes be directly used without any conversion process or artwork manipulation; We print from ’barely there’ translucent to ’full opaque’ decals in 1440 x 720 dpi high-resolution, using an 8-ink process (printer-dependent: either ”CMYK + Light Black, Orange, White and Silver” or ”CMYK + Light Cyan, Light Magenta, White and Metallic” inks). For any other decals that you may require: please ask us! 5. Packaging for Decal Sheets Decal sheets are normally packaged in resealable cellophane bags and then placed in an appropriately sized (C5 or B4) rigid cardboard envelope for mailing. Marked ”Do Not Fold”, the rigid cardboard envelope provides a significant level of protection against many types of damage to decal sheets. 6. Postage: Insurance and Tracking We normally ship Australia-wide via Priority Post, for (supposedly) 2-3 business day delivery (instead of the now seemingly standard 6-10+ business days for ordinary mail). Unless specifically requested, we ship internationally via standard International AirMail. Australia Post (and other postal authorities) quote a typical delivery time of ”approx 6-10 business days” for delivery. Whilst we have occasionally had reports of quicker delivery, most shipments are delivered within that timeframe. We have however had reports of shipments taking 15+ business days. Please note that once we ship an item, we are not responsible for, and can not be held accountable for, the actual delivery time taken. That responsibility and liability reposes with the carrier. Warranty: Refunds, Repairs & Returns We fully comply with our obligations under Australian Consumer Law and all Rights for ’repair, return or refund provided therein.
