Satin liner is secured to hat and is clean, just starting to get the yellowish patina! We cleaned with horsehair brush but could use a bit more. There is a super tiny spot on the front brim, see picture, yes it’s extremely tiny and is hard to see but there, could possibly be cleaned up better. Grosgain ribbon clean, bound edge bit soiled, handling, After we took pictures we could see outside in the bright light a line forming on that sewn joint. So just to be completely confident it will not split, we took a strip of old leather sweatband and used special Weldwood leather glue to secure it permanently! This is now the strongest part of leather! eBay This EXCELLENT Vintage, early 1950s, Stetson Open Road, Vintage Taupe Color, 3X Beaver, (currently on the Open Crown shape, will custom shape). This is the vintage 3X Beaver! Nothing like today’s 3X Beaver! The size is 7+ to 7-1/8 (read below). This is an excellent hat! Even the coat trolley string is perfect on this hat! This is an outstanding wide (2.9 inches) brim. If you look very closely at the “Last Drop” hat liner you should know that parts of that liner are actually embroidered into the satin liner! Maybe you can’t tell from the pictures? But it is! That’s what makes this liner so very unique and beautiful? This is one our favorites liner designs! This original 1950s Stetson Beaver is Very very soft and pliable, hold a shape just like you’d expect from these true vintage beaver Stetsons. We took pictures of us “hand-bashing” the hat, as you look though the first few pictures. It is currently in an Open Crown shape. This is a very soft, thick beaver and pliable material! This could easily be shaped into a fedora, Open Road, cattleman, Gus- Tom Mix or nearly any shape you’d like to shape it! If you want it changed you will need to write to dad. This can be “hand-bashing” to different shapes also, it’s soft and pliable enough to get a shape to remain. Note: this Stetson box is just for the pictures and is NOT included in this sale. Dad has us use it for the pictures so you could see the type of box (era) it would have been sold in. You can always find these sold here on EBay. If you have any questions please write us. Ok now the particulars We did find the size tag loose under the hat’s leather sweatband, size “7” tag on it. But it’s measures to a size 7+, just a fraction under a perfect 7-1/8. We know that there was NO hat sizing standardization back then but like always we measure each hat 3 times using different methods to verify the actual size! So currently it measures to a 7+ at 22-1/8 inches and a perfect 7 is 22 inches and a perfect 7-1/8 is 22-3/8 inches. So it’s a fraction under a perfect 7-1/8. It’s an easy stretch that any inexpensive stretcher (like the Amazon $14 stretcher) would work. It’s just takes time and patience. Currently all 3 of dad’s hat stretchers have hats on them. Somewhere between taking the pictures outside and taking back inside the home we cannot find the tag, (this is the second one he has misplaced) darn it. My grandson is still looking for it. If found we will place it inside the hat when it’s shipped or write to us and ask. We use the Tilley hat size chart. This chart is still in use today. The hat color is vintage Taupe color. So the picture of the whole underside is the best match to the actual color.
