The locket measures 1 and 6/16 inches across (35mm) and about 1 and 3/8 inches tall (30mm). All of the metal is silver in color. The floating birthstone included is a pretty 5mm heart-shaped pointy-back faceted crystal that sparkles in the light. The color is dark red to represent the January garnet birthstone. It is not a real garnet. It makes a very affordable gift that really looks QUITE expensive. This is a very high-quality piece! It does not tarnish, rust, or discolor skin at all, and is very durable.
