10.5″ X 8.5″SIGNED, DATED, ORIGINAL, ONE OF A KIND (OOAK), VINTAGE SILVER ALUMINUM, COPPER, ONYX (?), BRASS, & WOODWALL JEWELRY HANGING SCULPTURE PLAQUE DECORATION – 1979 ~ THOM WHEELER – Item Description & Noted Condition ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a ’USED’ ITEM in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION with NO PACKAGING ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10.5″ Wide x 8.5″ Tall Signed and Dated By Thom Wheeler (1979) Made of Aluminum Plate (Assumed), Copper, Brass, Onyx (Assumed), and Mounted on Plywood What some may consider ’Imperfections’ are considered part of the work, HOWEVER a purchaser could probably buff them out if they chose to. *An Art Professor I had at one point stated that the reason artists often use Copper or Brass is due to the fact that they oxidize and change over time, making the piece timelessly evolving. I don’t know if that was the inspiration here, but it certainly works. In regards to Items that are not BRAND NEW: From my BRIEF inspection of the Item (and/or packaging) I do not find NOTABLE flaws or damage beyond those listed above. Signs of General Use, Shelf, Transportation, and/or Storage Wear and/or Typical Ageing are either not present, or minimal if not highlighted. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Thom Wheeler is a Texas native who became one of Houston’s foremost contemporary sculptors in the 1970’s/80’s, creating many large commissions for corporations and architects, commercial and public spaces such as hotel and bank lobbies. He worked in grand scale ranging from 54 feet for bas relief works to 60 feet tall three dimensional pieces. Major works were executed for Banco di Roma, Rome, Italy; The Grand Hotel, Houston; and Ole Miss University, Oxford, Mississippi among many others.
